High Protein Cottage Cheese Pasta Sauce for Healthy Enjoyers

This creamy and protein-rich cottage cheese pasta sauce is perfect for a quick and healthy dinner. With fresh herbs and spices, it brings a delightful Italian flavor to your pasta.

  • 250 g cottage cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 250 g fresh tomatoes, diced
  • 100 ml vegetable broth
  • 1 handful fresh basil, roughly chopped

Instructions

  1. Finely chop the onion and garlic. This takes about 5 minutes. Make sure they are evenly chopped for even cooking.
  2. In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. After about 2 minutes, the oil should be hot enough to add the onions and garlic.
  3. Add the onions and garlic to the hot oil and sauté for about 3-4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are soft and lightly golden. This will give the sauce an aromatic base.
  4. Add the diced tomatoes and stir well. Let everything simmer together for about 5 minutes until the tomatoes are soft and release their juices.
  5. Add the vegetable broth, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir everything well and cook the mixture for another 5 minutes. Be careful not to let the sauce burn.
  6. Gently stir in the cottage cheese into the sauce. Let the sauce simmer for another 3-5 minutes until it is heated through and reaches a creamy consistency. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  7. Add the fresh basil and remove the sauce from the heat. Let it rest for 2 minutes to allow the flavors to develop before serving over cooked pasta.
